Framundan er ráðstefnan Open Science European Conference dagana 4. og 5. febrúar n.k. og að þessu sinni er hún skipulögð af Frökkum. Ráðstefnan er kennd við París, „Paris open Science European Conference“, þó hún fari alfarið fram á netinu að þessu sinni.
Vert er að vekja athygli á skjali sem samið var af „the French Open Science Committee“ og kynnt verður á ráðstefnunni. Skjalið kemur í kjölfarið á tilmælum UNESCO varðandi Open Science sem gefin voru út nóvember sl. og skýrslu Evrópuráðsins „Towards a reform of the research assessment system: scoping report„. Kallað er eftir nýrri nálgun á mati á rannsóknum: Paris Call on Research Assessment. Skjalinu lýkur á eftirfarandi orðum:
- „Calls for the creation of a coalition of research funding organisations, research performing organisations, and assessment authorities, willing and committed to reform the current research assessment system along commonly agreed objectives, principles and actions (such as mutual learning, shared documentation and commonly agreed monitoring effort). The success of such a coalition will be deeply connected to its capacity to propose concrete implementation processes and to its capacity to associate and involve researchers at all levels.“
