Open Research Week 2025

Welcome to The Open University’s (OU) first Open Research Week, which takes place from Monday 24 to Friday 28 March 2025.

Throughout the week, you’ll hear about the ‘real world’ use, translation, adaption and engagement of our openly available data, outputs and citizen science platforms. You’ll also hear about open practices that could help you if you want to make your research processes or outputs more open.

We’re aware that ‘open’ means different things across disciplines, and that not all research can be made open. We encourage you to take part in the discussions to explore what open means for you and how we can legally and ethically inform and use open practices to the betterment of society.

About Open Research Week 2025

This is a week that celebrates and promotes open research for researchers and colleagues who support open research practices. Whilst some sessions are UK-focussed, others will be of interest to colleagues around the world.
